Used to watch them when I was younger. I will always remember him for trying to jump the "Snake River" with the children's bike.

Post Re: RIP Ryan Dunn
It's sad indeed, for fan of the show and his family/friends alike. However, I'm frustrated with how the media are covering the issue.

It seems like more and more news coverage time these days is spent on examining what other celebrities are saying in their Twitter feeds. The problem with Twitter and its small character limit is it doesn't allow people to elaborate on and expand the points they make and caters to people with short attention spans who generally wouldn't want to listen to elaborations.

Case in point, Roger Ebert tweeted something along the lines of "You shouldn't let jackasses drive" or possibly "drink and drive" which caused Bam Margera to react with hostility.

I know I'm idealistic but is it too much to ask for people to just take a deep breath and think about the situation logically?

1) It's a sad situation. Accidental deaths are never a good thing.
2) Sympathy should be felt for his family and friends who have lost a loved one. This is a situation that most if not all of us can relate to.
3) It's okay to think he was an idiot for this and it's okay to be angry with him. He (probably) died due to driving while drunk. Moreover, he killed his friend in the process.

I stopped watching all news for about a year... then I started again. I'm not sure why.

He's a stunt guy and died doing something he loved. Pretty sure his friend knew the risks there.

Well, that something he loved was inebriated motoring, not one of the dangerous but precautioned stunts they perform on the show. I'm sure the friend was aware of the risks of getting into a vehicle with an intoxicated driver the same way any of us would be, but I don't think that excuses Dunn's behavior or makes the accident any less unfortunate and unnecessary.

People tend to make exceptions for things that not only kill yourself, but also might potentially kill others not part of your drunken joyride. This is also the sort of thing gun experts would not call an accident, they'd call it negligence. In addition, it would probably be worse if he wasn't drunk, since there would be very little excuse for driving 140 mph.

I read that a DUI was not mentioned in the police report, unless there's been an update since I read it.

Yeah sucks he killed his friend, and sucks that his friend got mixed up with someone who liked to drive really fast. I say stay the hell away from daredevils.

Last I heard they were holding off on an official determination until the toxicology reports were returned, but that somehow they came out and Dunn's BAC was well over twice the legal limit. I would expect a dude who rolls in those circles to be able to hold his alcohol better than the layman, but that level of intoxication coupled with the excessive speeds he was doing... forget about it.
