Post Well... I'm French!
This is the best forum ever, I know most of you will agree with me on this...

But I have one problem, something really frustrating for me as I'm French... Yes, language! I mean I always understand English when I read it or ear it but it is more difficult for me to create right sentences, using the good words, tenses, etc. Sometimes I'm just translating my ideas into English.. I think everybody here understand me (I guess... I hope!!) most of the time and I guess my English is good enough to make myself understood but I wish I could write more than I actually do! Sometimes there're some seriously good debates I'd love to be part of but I can't, it's really disapointing... I mean I can post an idea or my point of view but if someone replies or attacks me on anything, I might not be able to answer and to keep that debate alive. I've read dozens of great discussions without saying anything, just reading and agreeing with some of you...

Well that's why I'm writing this right now... This is my favourite forum even if I can't always be part of it like I would like to... But I'm still here and I always be as long as this forum stays alive!

Thank you for those who read this and for the support and friendship you gave me!

J. :p

I can't speak fro everybody but i have never had trouble understanding either of your guys' posts. You guys take he time to type out your thoughts in a coherent manne. I can think of plenty of forums where people can't be bothered to do that(and I'm pretty sure those people are from English speaking countries:( ).

I agree with Kindler here, and english isn't my first language.
With that said, is your difficulty occurring when you speak or only when you read/write?

Yeah, I don't think there's anybody who posts here whose English skills are so bad that their posts are incomprehensible. I knew English wasn't your first language, John, but I've always been able to understand what you have to say and I generally have an easier time of it than reading some of what my native speaking friends post on Facebook. Nobody really values communication skills anymore, but for a guy like you who obviously works at it and makes a concerted effort, you end up coming across better most of the time than people who are well versed in the language but don't make any attempt to do it justice by using it correctly.

Thanks guys! My main concern is that my limited vocabulary can make me quite repetitive.

It makes me embarrassed that I only really know one language.

That said I know your frustration about debating. It happens even in English itself. Debating economists (something I encounter regularly in my day job) is f*cking loony for me since they just use different phrases and words. So even though I understand the concepts, sometimes they use their weird exclusive language and make it hard for outsiders to contribute. It's also a good way to prevent others from making claims against what you say.

So I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say that we value input, and we're more than happy to clarify our crummy English so that you can contribute to discussions.

And as much as I hate to admit it, you guys make fewer typos than I do. Oops. :)

I totally understand that... I'm not really making long replies, most of the time I'm just using 1 sentence or short words like "Awesome", "Great", "Nice"! I surely sound repetitive!

And thank you for the others, I know what you mean when you say our English is the best here because (I'm sure I speak for Mr Franck too) we both take time to answer, even for the shortest replies. I'm like "is this word correct?" "should I use "this" or "that"" etc.

Exactly! If I don't know how to spell or if I'm not familiar with a word, I look it up. I'm always trying to improve my language.

If it will make you feel better, I could totally start writing all my posts in French, I did study it for a couple years in high school. Lets see...

Bonjour! Je suis Evan. Je suis faite de frommage. Mon pantelones es avec deux bibliotheque. Champagne!

Damn, I think that's it. I'm out.
